In Loving Memory
Matthew Joseph Farkas
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Farkas family mourns the passing of Matthew Joseph Farkas. At the age of 34, Matthew left this world surrounded by his family following a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Born on May 3, 1990 in London, Ontario, Matthew was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew him. His boundless kindness, infectious humor, uniqueness and deep passion for skateboarding and music were widely known and nothing short of remarkable. He was a known skateboarder and had a rare gift for music, effortlessly teaching himself any instrument and channeling his immense creativity through every note. His recordings and videos are treasured mementos of these extraordinary talents.
During his battle with cancer, Matthew became an uncle. Through his nephew Hudson, Matthew’s spirit was uplifted, giving him a renewed sense of determination and hope. The love and joy that little Hudson brought into Matthew’s life stands as a testament to his incredible strength and resilience.
Occupationally, Matthew dedicated the last 12 years of his life to his work as a certified CWB welder/fabricator at SRI Holmes in Winfield, British Columbia. His hard work, generosity and warmth touched everyone around him, and we are deeply grateful for the support from friends and family during this difficult journey.
Our heartfelt thanks go to those individuals at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon Hospice and to the myriads of doctors and nurses who provided compassionate care to Matthew during the time. Your efforts will not be forgotten.
Matthew is survived by his parents Frank and Annette, brothers Alex (Chelsea) and Jason, nephew Hudson, grandparents Frank and Irene, along with uncles, aunts and cousins in British Columbia and Ontario. Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents John & Diny Fluttert. In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in the love and cherished memories we share of Matthew. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Let us remember the extraordinary person he was—his immense heart, his indomitable spirit, and his enduring impact on all who knew him.
We are not saying goodbye, but until we all meet again. Matthew, you will forever be in our hearts. We will love you always!
