In Loving Memory

Linda Jean Dorion

Linda Jean Dorion, mother, grandmother and friend. She passed away unexpectedly with family at her side on July 1st, 2024 the age of 74.

Mom was born in Edson Alberta on November 19th 1949, the third daughter of Albert (Bob) and Martha Benjamin. She was married to Harold Berkholtz for 30 years and they made their homes in the Okanagan raising two children: Chris and Jill. The family lived in Oyama and Winfield, with Linda and Harold ultimately buying a farm at Mabel Lake near Enderby. Together they owned and operated a successful construction company, Proflex Systems Ltd. Through the years they also raised animals from schnauzers and fancy poultry including peacocks to more exotic animals like llamas and alpacas.

Mom ventured off on her own in 1999 and met her second husband Edward Dorion in 2004. They were married in 2007 and made their homes in Vernon and Palm Springs until his passing in 2020.  She is survived by her children; Chris (Bev) Berkholtz, Jill (Paul) Ploegman and granddaughter Azriel Ploegman. She is also survived by her step children: Craig (Alisa), Lorrie and Sheri and step grandchildren Matthew, Colton, Brendan, Mason, Donovan, and Quinn. She is also survived by her companion for the past two years Floyd Belcourt and her beloved dog Tessie. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters; Gladys Bevan and Delores Huber.

Linda enjoyed cooking/baking, travelling and being an artist in a few mediums during her life. She sculpted and potted with clay, painted canvas and fabric and ultimately took up quilting with a flair for some stunning results. Her memory will live on in our homes that are filled with her beautiful creations. When her cooking was enjoyed, the person who made their delight known was often a recipient of that food when she made it or as a thank-you gift of appreciation for a kindness shown to her. Mom was caring and giving and will be dearly missed.

Linda requested that no service be held for her and simply said that she wished to be remembered as she was in the good times. Her free nature side was expressed in the handling of her ashes, she told her son to take them and where not to spread them and he would know the place to spread them when he found it.

I am so sorry for your loss. Prior to my dad‘s passing, I can remember so many great times with Linda. Whether she was teaching me how to cook the most amazing cabbage rolls or showing what delights you can pick up from a garage sale and turn around to make money on eBay, we always had lots of fun and laughter. My heart goes out to you all 🙏.
    Love,
    Sheri

I was shocked and saddened at Linda’s passing. We were junior high school friends.. she will be missed. Condolences to her family, and to Floyd whom I remember from Linda’s and my teen years.
