In Loving Memory

Kathleen Snider

We celebrate the life of Kathleen Snider who went home with Jesus on April 10, 2024. Kay was born to Hugh and Annie O’Rourke at their home in Clandonald, Alberta on November 18, 1930.  She had three younger brothers: Kevin, Tom, and Peter.  They grew up on a small farm outside of Clandonald, which meant mom rode horseback to attend school or by sled in the winter.  Times were hard but she had many stories to share of her family playing music, farming, and her brother’s antics.

Kay met Bill Snider in Radium Hot Springs and once married raised 3 children Colleen, Michael, and Shirley.  Bill & Kay were involved in the Brisco Riding Club and enjoyed camping, fishing, and making short trips to visit family in the Okanagan and Alberta. They owned many horses and dogs over the years.  Favorites being Ceasar and Goldie.

Mom was crafty and loved to try her hand at something new from making dolls, knitting, crocheting, creating quilts to leather work and beading.  She loved painting ceramics, quilting squares and was an amazing seamstress.  She was known for her baking and cooking and was always looking for new recipes to try.  She grew a large garden and had tasty jams, pickles and canning to keep them through the winter.  There was nothing she could not do or create.

Mom was predeceased by both parents, all her brothers and her son-in-law.  She leaves behind her children Colleen (Ross) Bryant, Micheal (Cindy), Shirley (Harley) Carlier, her grandchildren Tara (Jason), Russell, Shawn, Colby, and great grandsons Tyler & Matthew.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful Care Aids, Nurses & Support Staff from Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong who looked after mom during her 9 years there, right up until her passing.

A celebration of mom’s life will take place at a later date with family, and she will be interned at the Brisco Cemetery.

I am sorry for the passing of your Mom. I am not sure if I know your family. But my parents knew a Kay & Bill Snider who had 2 girls and a boy, and they camped at Osoyoos McFarlanes Campsite each year back in the 60’s. The Snider’s used to live in the Kootenay’s I understand. I have many pictures of the family and kids from back then on 35mm slides.

My condolences to all. Sorry to intrude if you are not the same family, yet I do send condolences.

    Condolences to the Snider family!

Mrs Snider made the best cinnamon buns and was kind enough to always share her products with us at the Brisco Store.

    Thinking of you all.

Colleen, Michael and Shirley it is with heartfelt feelings of sadness to learn of your Mom’s passing. She loved sharing favourable memories of admiring her Mac Lellan uncles and living with her rascal brothers at Landonville. We will always cherish her giggles and the warmth she brought to our family. With sincere sympathy and love, the family of Finvola and Donald Mac Lellan.
