In Loving Memory

Gloria Reimer (née Barsky)

Gloria Reimer (née Barsky), born on May 18, 1936, in Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Gerry Reimer for an incredible 60 years. After meeting in White Rock, Gloria became a tireless supporter of Gerry during his baseball career, before finally returning to Enderby with their two children. Here they established themselves and ran a cherished local department store. Gloria’s dedication and hard work were evident in every aspect of her life, whether it was managing the store or caring for her family. Gloria was not only a dedicated family woman but also an active and engaged member of her community.

Gloria shared her talents generously. She was known for her creativity and craftiness, a skill she lovingly poured into cross-stitching beautiful family Christmas stockings that will forever be cherished. Her culinary talents were equally legendary; Gloria’s cooking and baking were second to none, delighting her family and friends with delicious meals and treats on countless occasions.

In addition to her husband Gerry, Gloria leaves behind a loving family that she cherished deeply. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Mary Barksy, and her sister Josephine Lambert. Gloria’s memory will forever be carried on by her son Kevin Reimer and his wife Christine, and her daughter Sherri Castle and her husband Curtis. She was a doting grandmother to four adoring grandchildren: Quaid, Shelby, Paige, and Téa, who will always hold her close in their hearts.

May she rest in peace.

She made her home a place loved ones and friends gathered for summer activities at the lake. If the Bluejays were on when we walked in, her and Gerry would be watching intently. Then she’d have to get up to check on something in the oven. It’ll be etched in my mind forever, the wafting of dinner rolls or home made bread, when we entered the house. I’d eat something she made and immediately ask for the recipe! I have Gloria’s blueberry buckle recipe in my own cookbook. Sherri, I love that she passed those skills on to you, cause we all benefit! We’re going to miss sitting on the deck waiting for the toasted spinach dip with rosemary to make its appearance. Sometimes when we arrived, her and Gerry would be out golfing, getting in a game before the hot afternoon. I love the memories of being with the family at the lake, Gloria in her element. She was just such a well rounded, grounded woman who was the rock of her family. Will miss her dearly. Big hugs to you all ❤️

Gloria was one of the first Enderby-ites I met when I arrived in Enderby 45 years ago. Her clothing store was filled with quality goods and she treated her customers with smiles and individual care. She was the untiring fan of her talented husband Gerry and her son, Kevin who both became international baseball stars. She passed on her cooking talents to her daughter Sherry who continues to share Gloria’s recipes and unique presentations. Gloria was a gentle lady with a quick smile and a caring response. She will be missed!!
