In Loving Memory
Daniel Byron MacMillan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Big Dan” MacMillan. Dan and his sister Lynnette flew to Kelowna August 11th, 2024 to start their fight against Dan’s recent diagnosis of esophageal cancer. After 3 months of his heroic battle, with his sister by his side, Dan passed away at home in Vernon, BC on Saturday November 9th, 2024.
Dan was known for his hard work, big love and most of all his humour. He loved the outdoors, whether he was on his motorbike, his sled, his side by side or on his beloved riverboat.
Dan was always there to lend a helping hand to all he knew and even those he didn’t know. He cherished time with his family and friends and especially with his children; Brooke, Daylon, Drea and his grandson Axton. They were the lights of his life.
Dan was a longtime resident of Chetwynd, BC and was well known to many and loved by all.
Dan was predeceased by his father Doug MacMillan.
He is survived by his mother Hazel MacMillan, children, Brooke (Evan), Daylon, and Drea, grandson Axton, sister Lynnette (Murray), nephews Kash, Kane, and Jaxon as well as numerous family and close friends who loved him dearly.
A service to celebrate Dans life will be held on Saturday November 30th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Legion in Chetwynd, BC.
In Lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in honor of Dan to Hope Air.

This is so sad. I met Dan on one of my many trips to see my sister Lorraine in Chetwynd. He was a very close friend to my nephew Len. Not a lot of stories but the ones I have make me smile and in some, cringe lol. Dan was a scary guy to be in a truck with. The best is at Len and Stacies wedding years ago. 6am, up all night and Dan found an umbrella and started to dance on the tables. Well being Dan, you know how that worked out. Sad to know next time I’m there I won’t get the chance to say hi. Very Sad. Rest In Peace Big Dan
