In Loving Memory

Margaret Mary Cochran

Our beloved Margaret Mary Cochran sadly left us on June 13th, 2024. Loved and missed by her sons Jonathan (Jen) and Kenneth (Arlana) and the granddaughters she adored, Alexa and Keysha.

Born January 29, 1943, in Vernon, BC, Margaret came to Kamloops with her family in 1947.  A chance encounter led her to meet love of her life, Dale Cochran, in 1970. They married in 1972 and enjoyed 40 years together before Dale’s passing in 2014.

Margaret was a cashier at Safeway for 32 years, at the downtown and North Shore locations. She made many friends there over the years, loving the 5-minute conversations she would have with each customer.

Margaret was a talented artist, enjoying numerous hobbies over the years. From dollhouses, to stamping, to stained glass, Margaret always had a project on the go.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Percy and Daisy Jensen. She will be dearly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Bill Phillips. She had extensive family in Kamloops, including brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Kim Jensen, sister-in-law Judy Cochran, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be greatly missed by her friends, especially those who were such help to her since Dale’s passing.  Margaret especially cherished her afternoon coffee with Helen every day.

Our sincere gratitude to the incredible nurses at RIH and nurse practitioner Tonya Becenko and her staff, who took such great care of her during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations to may be made to Flutter Buys Thrift Store in Margaret’s honor.

A celebration of life will take place at a later time.

Jon ,Ken and families ,we were sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. We have many memories working with Margaret. She had a great sense of humour and of course a caring heart. She had made a set of three garden nomes for our garden that were around for many years. A great friend to have had. She will be missed by those who knew her.

I was very sad when I learned of Margs passing. I was privileged to work with Marg for many years at our Seymour and Fortune Safeways. Marg rmeant the world to many of us and it was a privilege to both know her and work with her at both the Downtown and Fortune Safeways. Marg was the last person to open up and turn the key at the Seymour store on its closing day. All my condolences to Margs family. A great lady….

I only learned of Margaret’s passing recently when I tried contacting her for a visit. Was shocked and sorry to hear of her passing. She was the best person to work with. We got into trouble a couple of times when we were told to quit laughing and get back to work. I will never forget her. So sorry Jon and Ken.
