In Loving Memory
George Weninger
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, George Weninger. George died peacefully on October 26th, 2024, at 84 years of age.
George was born on October 10th, 1940, in Scott, Saskatchewan, near the community of Revenue. The youngest of 10 siblings, George grew up working on the family farm until moving to Kelowna, B.C., in 1961 and eventually to Armstrong, B.C., in 1979. While his love of farming and the wide-open spaces never left him, George was also a talented woodworker and carpenter. His carpentry career spanned more than 40 years as a union member with the Construction, Maintenance, and Allied Workers Union (CMAW). George finished his career working with Maddock’s Construction, enjoying many years of retirement using his talented woodworking skills to help friends and family.
He is survived by Patricia Anne Weninger and their four children: Dora, Kelly, Richard (Tricia), and Steve (Michelle). George was blessed with six grandchildren (Chantel, Tyler, Jessica, Tiffany, Tannor, and Mackenzie) and five great-grandchildren (Ariadne, Hedley, Aitrus, Malcolm, and Adithya). George is also survived by two siblings, Joseph and Magdalena and innumerable nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brothers Sebastien, Lawrence, Peter, Mike, Eddy, and sisters Theresa and Clara.
At this time, the family is honouring George’s request to not have a formal gathering. We warmly invite you to share your stories and memories of George; husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather—You are missed, you are loved.
