Paul Anthony Burke
October 14, 1946-2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Anthony Burke, who passed away September 15, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on October 14, 1946, in Lindsay Ontario, Paul spent much of his life sharing his voice, his stories, and his love of radio with the community. A retired radio host, his voice became a familiar part of everyday life for many. You may not have known him personally, but chances are you knew his voice, whether it be announcing when the Vernon Viper’s scored a goal, one of City Furniture’s radio ads, or simply listening to him on air.
Outside of Paul’s love and talents in radio. Paul was an active member for Trinity United Church and could be seen behind the soundboard. Paul also practiced Jiu-Jitsu and took pride in sharing what he learned with others teaching self-defence lessons.
Paul loved movies and would happily spend hours watching his ever increasing collection of DVD’s, reading a Stephen King novel, and watching the Canucks game with a bowl of cashews.
He will be deeply missed by his sister, Nora, his former wife, and good friend Kristy and his three daughters Amanda, Emily, and Julia, as well as those whose lives he touched through his work, his love for community and his unmistakable voice.
Paul’s family invites friends, colleagues, and loved ones to join them in remembering and celebrating his life.
A service will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday October 24, 2026, at 12:00pm.

My wife and Paul shared the same room while he was in VJH. Paul and I had many conversations and I enjoyed his company. My condolences to all his family and loved ones.

My condolences go out to Pauls immediate family. Kristy, Amanda,Emily and Julia. Loosing a loved one is never easy but I know in my heart Paul is surrounded by love as he makes his next journey. Ive personally known Paul for over 30 years as we worked together in the broadcasting industry an extremely gifted announcer who had a terrific sense of humour and most importantly was a beautiful person. You could always rely on Paul when you needed him he was very spiritually connected and most importantly he loved his family and for me it just doesn’t get much better than that.
Our condolences to the Burke family on the loss of Paul. He and Kristy were good friends to us and nextdoor neighbours for several years in Vernon. We spent many an enjoyable evening in each other’s company, righting the wrongs of the world and determining how much better things would be if we ran the show. Paul and Kristy did us the honour of being god parents to our son Gavin. Paul took delight in teaching him and our older boy, Jordan, how to talk like a pirate long before it became popular. When we dined with Paul 20 years after we left Vernon, it was if we’d only been gone a week. That’s the way he was. We won’t be able to attend the service for Paul, but we’ll raise a glass to him, and carry his memory with us always.
Paul was a childhood friend of mine in Lindsay. I have not seen Paul since the 1960s. Today (October 3) just out of the blue I had a random thought to google Paul’s name to see where he might be at and was shocked and saddened to see the notice about his passing. We both lived on Lindsay Street in Lindsay. I can remember in high school when Paul became intrigued with radio and becoming a DJ at Lindsay’s CKLY AM radio station across the street from the high school. I don’t remember how Paul got involved with CKLY but when we were still in high school he used sneak me in into the radio station at night and show me how all the DJ equipment worked. I can still remember Paul’s amazing voice. With a tear in my eye I offer my condolences to his family.
I love this picture of Paul❣️
We were cousins and friends when family came to Kingston/ Howe Island born the same year, we were kindred spirits.
Paul even from a young age had his father’s deep voice. I believe he was the youngest radio announcer in Canada back in 60’s.
I am so sorry for your loss, sending condolences from Gananoque
