Patricia Maureen Yonkman

“Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God has laid, you see.”

Patricia Maureen Yonkman (née Donahue) was born on May 31, 1948, in New Westminster, BC, and passed away on September 14, 2026, surrounded by her family at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

She attended Salmon Arm Senior Secondary School, and on July 1, 1967, she married Louis Yonkman in St. Joseph’s Church. At the time of her passing, Pat and Louis had recently entered their 60th year of marriage. They worked on the family farm in Deep Creek until 1978, at which point they went out and farmed on their own for another 20 years. They built their retirement home next to their old farm in Deep Creek. Pat spent her retirement fishing, hunting, camping, and holidaying in Arizona. She also enjoyed traveling and made many trips to visit family in the Netherlands, as well as trips to Spain, Australia, and Alaska. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Pat was a member of the Vernon Placer Miners Club. She will be missed by her husband, Louis; her children, Wayne and Rick; her two grandchildren, Jessica and Jakob (Megghan); brothers, Ken and Mike (Lorna); sisters, Ellen and Jo-Anne; nieces and nephews; as well as her extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Gabrielle; her father, Don; her brother, Don; and brothers-in-law, Mel and Norman.

Pat played an important role in bringing her family together. She leaves behind a legacy shaped by her love, strength, and the many memories created over a lifetime. She will be deeply missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pat’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 9 am at Armstrong Bible Chapel (2145 Rosedale Ave Armstrong, BC).
