John “JP” Pavelich
May 8, 1938 - October 26, 2026
In Loving Memory
John “JP” Pavelich

John Pavelich, affectionately known as JP to just about everyone who knew him, and as
Boppa to his grand and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home on
Monday, October 26, 2026 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Mountain Park, Alberta, in 1938, but at heart he was a true Likan, from
Croatia. John moved to Enderby in 1967, where he built a life, a career and a lasting
connection to his community. He dedicated his working life to education, teaching at
A.L. Fortune Secondary School until his retirement in 1997. As a science teacher, JP
made a lasting impact on generations of students and teachers.
John’s commitment to his community extended well beyond the classroom. He gave
generously of his time through the Enderby Lions Club. His help was always just a
phone call away. Giving was simply part of who he was, his hard work has helped make
Enderby a better place to live.
Those who knew JP best will likely remember him for his love of a good laugh. He had a
way of keeping people on their toes while still finding the funny side of situations.
Whether sharing a laugh, enjoying a good home-cooked meal, settling into his favorite
easy chair or spending time with family, JP appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He had a
deep appreciation for our history and a passion for genealogy. He spent countless hours
researching our families’ roots, uncovering stories of generations past and preserving
those connections so they could be shared with future generations.
His greatest joy was being Boppa to his grand and great-grandchildren, a role that
brought its own special kind of love, laughter and plenty of opportunities for mischief!
John had a way of making his presence known, whether you were on the receiving end
of one of his awesome, full-hearted hugs or a legendary bone-crushing handshake. His
hugs made you feel loved, and his handshakes made sure you knew you’d met him!
Both were unmistakably JP, larger than life, full of warmth, and impossible to forget.
John leaves behind Abby, his loving wife of 49 years, and their blended family, who
brought him so much love and pride over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Splatsin
Community Centre in Enderby. Lunch will be provided by the Enderby Lions. We
encourage guests to bring a sweet treat to add to our table, to enjoy with afternoon
coffee/tea and visiting. Just a little sweetness to go with the stories and memories of JP as we
remember a life well lived.
Donations can be made to the Enderby Lions Club in his name.
