In Loving Memory
James Donald (Jim) McLeod

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Donald (Jim) McLeod, 69, of Armstrong, British Columbia, on February 28, 2025, at Vernon B.C.
Jim was born in Woodstock, Ontario, and was the youngest son of Verona and Donald McLeod.
Jim is survived by his brother Bill (Barbara) Healey of Nanoose Bay, BC. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Verona and Donald McLeod, and by his wife Dorothy, and their daughter Abby, and his brother Jack (‘Mike’) Healey of Calgary AB.
Following university, Jim began his career as a civil engineer in Calgary, AB, working for EBA Engineering. An opportunity arose with EBA Engineering to seek adventure in the Yukon, and Jim and Dorothy relocated to Whitehorse where they lived for over 30 years. In 2014 after retiring, Jim and his family moved to Armstrong, BC, where he made many friends through volunteering at the Armstrong Museum, curling at the Armstrong Curling Club, and volunteering each year at the Interior Provincial Exhibition & Stampede. Jim loved many things: music, books, stamp collecting, and his ever-faithful companion ‘Miss Daisy’, his Portuguese water dog. Jim also loved the great outdoors, whether camping with family and friends, cross country skiing, riding his bike, or walking Miss Daisy.
Rest in Peace Jim. You will remain forever in the hearts of your family and friends.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Armstrong Curling Club, 3315 Pleasant Valley Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Armstrong Curling Club or the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery.

Condolences to Jim’s Family Cherish your memories!
When we moved to this neighbourhood in Armstrong 12 years ago, we were warmly welcomed by a smiling family at our door. Jim, Dorothy and Abby became not only our neighbours, but also our friends. We had many fun times together; memories that will forever be cherished.
It’s impossible to write about Jim without acknowledging the heartbreaking loss of Abby and Dorothy. The three of them were a sweet and loving family. Not only did they show a deep dedication and love to each other but they shared that with their whole community and we were all fortunate recipients of their kindness.
Finding himself on his own, Jim bravely continued to live his life. He had their faithful Daisy by his side and she gave him purpose and motivation to walk several times a day (not to mention handing out treats).
He continued his volunteer work and supported his community in practical, unassuming and lasting ways. He modestly and diplomatically shared his professional expertise which organizations in Armstrong will benefit from for many years to come. He also pursued his many interests including camping, curling, jigsaw puzzling, stamp collecting and, of course, his insatiable appetite for reading. He cared for his family and friends and always found the perfect, quirky card to celebrate special occasions.
As we look outside our window, it’s still so hard to believe that our sweet friends are gone. Jim, Dorothy and Abby personified courage, positivity, determination, and unconditional love. They will always be models of kindness and how to live with a joyful heart despite life’s challenges. Our great comfort is believing that Jim is now with ‘his girls’, and we pray for eternal peace for this lovely, sweet, kind and generous family.
I first meet Jim in Ontario as we had mutual friends in the Junior Farmers.
When I transitioned out to Alberta Jim was an initiate point of contact.
I was on a cooperative work program with school. Jim and Ray invited me to stay
with them for the work term and we became good friends. That friendship continued after
my permanent move to Calgary and over time I got to know his brothers as well.
Jim was a very social person with an interesting intellect. When he meet his soul mate Dot
that was great as the two of them had great senses of humor and complement each other so well.
While our lives have taken different paths Jim will remain in my heart and mind as
a friend and I will raise a glass to his memory on June 7.
My condolences to all his family and friends gathering to remember him.
I could not describe Jim, Dorothy and Abby more beautifully and accurately than Eva and Janine. May there be a way for you all to reunite and continue this thing we call life…on the other side
