In Loving Memory

Derek Wynn Bevan

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Derek on May 3, 2026 in Armstrong, BC. He was born on November 5, 1957 in Durban, South Africa.

Derek immigrated to Canada in 1991 and devoted his life to family, hard work, and the things he loved most. He was a passionate motorcycle and car racing fan who enjoyed spending weekends attending car and bike shows. Derek dedicated 45 years to his craft as a talented tool and die maker as well as a machinist, taking great pride in his work.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of rugby, and found immense joy in cheering on his grandsons in all their athletic pursuits, from football and hockey to track and field. Derek also had a deep love for animals, particularly his beloved dogs.

Derek will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynder Bevan; his daughter, Jenna (Will) Plenert; and his cherished grandsons, Layton, Beckett and Kaysen. He is also survived by his sisters, Jill Conlong and Lynne Dumont, along with their families. Derek was predeceased by his parents, Des and Ann Bevan.

A service will be held at a later date in South Africa.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Bosley’s in Armstrong – K911 Rescue.

Derek will be very warmly remembered by all who knew him. Gentle, kind-hearted, and always caring, he adored his family and his precious grandsons brought him endless joy. He also loved animals, particularly dogs, who seemed naturally drawn to him. Though he left us far too soon, he leaves behind lots of lovely memories and love that cannot be taken away. xxx

We are so saddened to hear of Derek’s untimely passing. Although his residence on West Enderby was not long,, his kind and quiet presence on our road was always a welcome pleasure. Our neighbourhood is surely diminished without his gentle joyful spirit. We send our sincere condolences to Lynder and family.
