In Loving Memory
Claire-Lise Bertholet

It is with profound sadness that we announce that our sweet beloved wife and mother, Claire-Lise Bertholet, passed away on August 6, 2026, at the age of 80, in Vernon, BC. She dedicated her life to her family, and her home was always warm, open, and filled with laughter and love.
Born on February 14, 1946, in Nyon, Vaud, Switzerland to Alfred and Lisette, she grew up with a deep appreciation for family and community. Claire-Lise met her husband Jean-Luc, in 1968, and they married in 1970 in Givrins, Switzerland, where they built the home of their future family. She worked as a secretary and office administrator, before becoming a homemaker and raising her children. Claire-Lise was active in her community, being a principal member of the Liens ladies club, where she devoted her crafting, knitting, and baking skills to raise funds for various charities. She loved taking part in the annual village end of year play, where her giggles could be heard from the backstage.
In 1989, Claire-Lise and her husband moved their family to Westlock, Alberta, Canada in pursuit of new adventures. She learned a new language, and learned a new way of life, by once again becoming active in the community: joining the Curling Club, and the Ladies Bowling League. Her years in Westlock were spent raising her children, hosting oversea visitors, travelling western Canada, and trying new experiences with the rural Alberta lifestyle.
1996 would bring another big move, where Claire-Lise and her husband moved to Falkland, British Columbia, where they envisioned their full-time retirement. Retirement life was never dull, with gardens, chickens (and sometimes pigs), and a vineyard. Claire-Lise enjoyed living off the land. She once again joined a local ladies club, the Glenemma Ladies Club, using her crafting skills to support charitable activities in Vernon and area.
Her hands were rarely still; she poured her creativity and patience into gardening, caring for her geraniums, cooking family recipes, baking wonderful cookies, cakes, chocolates, and fruit tarts, sewing, knitting custom socks, making wonderful jams with the fruits grown on the property, and crafting. She spent countless hours working the small vineyard with her husband, and enjoying the wine they made. Known for her infectious laughter and sweet disposition, she made everyone who knew her feel welcome and valued. Her radiant smile would brighten everyone’s day.
Claire-Lise is survived by her husband Jean-Luc, her children Marylene (Mathieu) and Gilles, and her grandchildren, Rayden and Mateo.
Claire-Lise will be greatly missed, and forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.
