In Loving Memory
Chester Toth

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Chester Toth, who passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in his home in Kamloops, BC, having recently celebrated his 88th birthday.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Carol, his children Ivan, Greg (Treva), Monty, Carrie, and Deanna, his grandchildren Joel, Josh, Travis, Jesse, Tyson, Cody, Annie, and Jordy as well as his sisters Claire and Mary (Bob), and brother Eddie. He was predeceased by his daughter Tamara, brother Stevie and parents Steve and Anna.
Chester was born in Osoyoos, B.C. on April 22, 1938, the first Canadian born child to Hungarian immigrants. Early life was spent growing up on the farm with his siblings, where he established his strong work ethic with the many chores associated with tending to a ten acre orchard. It was in Osoyoos that he met his wife Carol, and off to Coeur d’Alene they eloped!
It was his strong work ethic and varied experience that defined Chester’s working life: truck driver, logger, road builder, diamond driller, welder, mechanic – there were not too many things he wouldn’t tackle, much of it as an Owner/Operator under Diamond T Contracting. It may have been his restless feet, or gypsy blood associated with his Hungarian heritage, that saw him working in all areas of British Columbia, and many parts of Alberta, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. After retirement at the age of 76, he was known at home as Mister Fix It, and if Papa couldn’t fix it no one can! He was also an adventurer at heart with snowmobile racing in the mid sixties-early seventies, multiple fishing trips to Alaska, and backcountry fishing and hunting trips by horseback.
Chester was defined by his integrity, his honesty, and his strong convictions, and you always knew that he loved his family and would do anything for them. In his later years he cherished the time he was able to spend with his youngest grandson Jordy and their many adventures together.
Dad (and Papa) will be greatly missed.
At his request, no service will be held.
