Teunis “Tony” Rooseboom

Tony was born in Holland. He came to Canada in 1953 and met his future wife, Geertje “Grace” (April 07, 1929 – July 02 ,2019), onboard the ship.

Tony went to Saskatchewan for one year and Grace went with her family to Terrace, BC.

They were married Oct 08, 1954 in Terrace, BC.

Tony and Grace have 4 children: Harriet (Mike), Tom (Madeleine), Anne (Peter) and Wendy, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In Terrace, Tony worked in the logging industry until 1966.

From 1966 to 1971, they owned and worked a farm in Beaverlodge, AB.

Tony and Grace came to Vernon in 1972. Dad owned his own business, Tony’s Custom Carpentry, with which he built custom homes, did home renovations and built some of the first homes in Desert Cove.

Dementia took his independence, pneumonia took his life.

The family thanks the caregivers at Creekside Assistant Living, Gateby Extended Care and at the Vernon hospital.
