In Loving Memory

Steven John Wiebe

Steven John Wiebe was born July 23 1966, in Burns Lake BC, to Frank and Judy Wiebe. He was the second child in a family of 3. His sister Wanda, who was not even a year older, caused some serious competition. This probably helped in preparation for his fast paced life ahead. Brian born 8 years younger, brought out the father heart in Steven. He enjoyed helping care for him and played with him, even as a teenager.

Steven was an inquisitive child, who soaked up information like a sponge. He would read through the family encyclopedia like reading books.

At the age of 17, he quit school and started working for his dad in a logging company. He worked his way up from skidder operator to foreman, always doing his best at whatever came his way in life.

At that time He married Valerie Ann Thompson in 1983, having 2 children. Christopher
Evan in 1984, and Jaimee Michelle in 1986. The marriage ended in divorce, but they
remained friends.

In 2003 Sophie Alexandra was born to Steven and Michelle Morrison (deceased in 2024).
Michelle’s 3 girls were special to him; Severine, Amelia, and especially Jasmine who was
only 2 when Steven became her “dad.”.

He was a devoted father who loved his kids and enjoyed camping, fishing, etc with them.
In November of 2009, a tragic accident took the life of his father and a miracle prevented the loss
of his mom as well.

Then In 2010 Steven, with 7 year old Sophie, he decided to move to Vernon to be closer to
family that had moved there earlier. With that move he started doing renos, and it ignited
a creativity inside him that consumed him to the end. He Built an Aquaponic greenhouse
in his back yard, and many friends enjoyed the end result of his imagination in their
homes and yards.

In 2011 his daughter Jaimee married Brock Hughes, and to Steven’s delight, blessed him
with 2 grandkids. Porter Emmet in 2014 and Josephine Myra in 2016.

Steven was very social and loved to entertain. Every spring he held “plant n dance”
gatherings in his home that would overflow into his back yard. Friends would bring
musical instruments, lots of food, and exchange ideas, plants and recipes. Sometimes he’d
also have a gathering in the fall.

Steven was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2005 but it didn’t slow him down. He just
figured out a way of doing his peritoneal dialysis while driving truck!

In 2009 his mom donated a kidney, which served him well for 12 and a half years.
Then in Oct of 2021 he suffered a debilitating stroke, leaving his left side paralyzed. His
daughters, Sophie and Jasmine lovingly cared for him in his home. He never fully
regained function and returned to dialysis since the donated kidney was spent.

In March of 2026, he fell breaking his femur, and was in a wheelchair because of his
weakened condition. He struggled getting to dialysis 3 times a week with his kids
Christopher, and Jaimee & Brock, taking turns shuttling him to the clinic.

He was tired. His body was wore out before its time. He put up a good fight.
Rest in peace dear Steven, you will be sadly missed.
