In Loving Memory
Sandra Gail Wittner
Sandra Gail Wittner {nee Wittich}
Aug. 16, 1948- Jan 25, 2025
It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Sandra at home surrounded by her
loving family after a brave five-year battle against breast cancer.
Sandra was born Aug 16, 1948 in Vanderhoof B.C. while her parents briefly lived up north, first in
Vanderhoof then in Topley B.C. while Albert worked doing maintenance on the railroad.
Sandra was the second of their five children.
Sandra lived most of her life in the Okanagan Valley which she loved.
The family moved from Kelowna to Summerland, to Peachland and then settled in Westbank in 1963.
Sandy then worked in Kelowna where she started dating Mark they married in Feb. 1971.
Sandra and Mark welcomed two children Christina and Darren into their family.
Sandy and Mark settled in Lumby where they both worked in the forest industry, Mark as a tree faller
and Sandra at a seed and seedling nursery in Armstrong so between them they covered the circle of
cutting and replanting our forests.
Sandra’s repertoire of skills included Sewing (learning on her mom’s treadle sewing machine),
Gardening, plant propagation, tractor driving, canning, and Cast-iron self-defence. She loved to cook
and bake and she made some of the best Jam thumbprint and peanut butter cookies in the world.
Sandra was always an avid reader mainly enjoying history and biographies.
Sandra was very interested in design she loved to decorate, renovate, reuse and repropose.
Aside from her family, friends, pets and nature walks Sandy loved to garage sale and hunt through thrift
stores.
