Rory MacDermid
Rory MacDermid, aged 68, passed away on April 22, 2025, in Sicamous. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Debbie Vickers; his daughters, Leah and Crystal MacDermid; and his sister, Val MacDermid.
Born on an Air Force base in Germany, Rory grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, after his family settled there following his early years as an Air Force brat. In the 1970s, he and Debbie moved west and made British Columbia their home, raising their two daughters in the Okanagan and Shuswap regions.
Rory was known for his sharp wit and great sense of humour. He had a lifelong love of literature and music and was a talented guitar player. He also found joy in boating and spending time on the water.
In keeping with Rory’s wishes, no service will be held.

Uncle Rory was a true gem of a human being. He will be sadly missed. Love to my beautiful aunt and cousins ❤️

My heart goes out to Deb, Leah, Zack, Crystal, Jay and Ella. There may be many miles between my family and yours but we will walk this path with you. I remember my little brother as a cute little boy with long blonde curly hair who charmed everyone, as a preschooler who invented and perfected the cowboy dance, as a boy who loved music and banged away on his drum set in our basement, as a teenager who led the pack, as a young man who fell in love with Deb and stayed in love with her for life, as a father and grandfather who loved his family dearly, as an uncle who kept his nieces, Tara and Willow, in stitches with his incredible sense of humour, who had many friends who were dedicated to him, and who had a bossy older sister knew how special he was and will keep him with her forever. I love you Rory!
So very sad to hear of the passing of Rory, who was someone that had a passion for life. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. May you find strength in the cherished memories you shared with Rory.
