In Loving Memory

Rodney (Rod) Lloyd Whiting

Rod was born in Swift Current Sask on September 24, 1955.  He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1973 where he met Sheri Norris and married her in 1977.  On a vacation to the Vernon area he found a small local lake – Little Pinaus and absolutely fell in love with it and the surrounding area.  So it was his mission to move to Vernon and in December 1980 he loaded up his pregnant wife and son and moved to that magical area.  For years he took the family and anyone else who wanted to join in to spend time camping and fishing there.  Rod worked hard and played hard!

Rod passed away on May 19, 2024 after a long battle with his health.  Left to remember him is his wife Sheri of 47 years, son Shawn (Shawna) and daughter Brianne (Jeremy), 5 wonderful grandchildren whom he adored, Jaden, Hailey, Hunter, Riley and Dylan.  Rod also leaves behind 3 sisters, Val, Theresa and Patti and one brother Tal.  Rod’s parents Murray and Tina Whiting, Lyla and Don Woolsey predeceased him.  Of course he also leaves numerous in-laws  (or outlaws as he loved to refer to them), nieces, nephews and friends.

This song Rod loved and his eyes would leak every time he listened to it (which was often) but he went back time and time again!  (Please enjoy)

The Older I Get – Alan Jackson

The older I get

The more I think

You only get a minute

Better live while you’re in it

Cause it’s gone in a blink

And the older I get

The truer it is

It’s the people you love

Not the money and stuff

That makes you rich
