Robert Arthur Dale
February 21, 1936 - June 10, 2023
In Loving Memory
Robert Arthur Dale
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Arthur Dale on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at the age of 87. Rob was born to Walter and May Dale, February 21, 1936, in Enderby B.C.
Rob was a well-known member of the local Enderby and Kingfisher communities, spending his entire life in the area. Rob lost both his parents by the time he was 16, when he went to work ‘in-the-bush’. He worked as a logger his entire career, mostly with Baird Bros. He was also a farmer, taking over the Dale family homestead and farm in 1965 from his uncle Douglas.
Rob met the love of his life, Marion, at the 1956 Jumble Dance at Kingfisher Hall. They obviously saw through the ‘Jumble’ as they were married less than a year later in May of 1957. He always had a keen sense of humour, a friendly smile and wave, and answered to Robert, Rob, Bob, or Gramps. He was also well known as ‘Uncle Rob’ to many young members of the Kingfisher community. Rob retired at the age of 57 in 1993, having already worked for 41 years. Unable to just sit around, he bought a small dozer and puttered around the farm when he and Marion were not camping, fishing, travelling, or attending various music festivals or concerts.
Rob had a great passion for local history and was a life-member of the Okanagan Historical Society. Having reached only grade 9 before having to go to work, he took great pride in having several stories published in the Society’s annual report.
Rob is predeceased by both parents, brothers Malcolm and Kenneth, and son Alan. He leaves behind his wife Marion, sons Ward (Barb), and Alec (Angela), granddaughter Reanne (Colton), and great grandchildren Harper, Walker, and Palmer. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family throughout B.C., Ontario, Nova Scotia, and the United States.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00-4:00pm, July 22nd, 2023, at the Kingfisher Hall, 3337 Mabel Lake Rd.
Instead of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Robert’s name to either the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society (kingfishercentre.org) or the Okanagan Historical Society (Armstrong-Enderby Br.) Support the OHS | Okanagan Historical Society (https://okanaganhistoricalsociety.org/support.php).

Our condolences to Marion and the Dale family.
Our sincere condolences to Marion and family.
Sorry to hear of Rob’s passing. Rob told wonderful, historically correct stories connecting the community for so many of us. He was the one to welcome us ‘hippies’ as we tried to find our place in the Kingfisher community. A gentle man who made you feel a little bit better every time you talked. Our hearts are with the family in this sad time.
