Rick was born in Kitimat on November 22, 1957, to Iris and Lester. Iris and Lester are originally from Saskatchewan. Rick met his life-long friend Kim Newsted in high school. He met Louise Schwemler in Quesnel, they had two girls together. They moved to Edmonton where Rick worked to get his machinist certification. His attention to detail was highly commendable. Rick enjoyed playing hockey, curling and golf. They moved back to BC and went separate ways. Later he lived in Prince George. In August 2014 he had a bicycle accident there and was air-lifted to Vancouver. The surgeons were able to save his life and from then on he lived with quadriplegia. He enjoyed visiting with Uncle Don, Cousin Chris, Cousins Scott and Melinda, other friends and family, and watching sports. He was a big fan of The Canucks and The Blue Jays.

A memorial gathering will be planned for March or April 2026 in Kamloops BC. Memorial donations may be made to The Kamloops Hospice or The Mustard Seed.
