Pierre Varin

Nov 2 1939 – June 22 2025

Pierre passed away at Gateby Place, Vernon B C, where for the last few years he was lovingly cared for by the 2nd floor nurses and staff.

Pierre was one of 8 children and lived in Buckingham, Quebec and left to mourn his passing are his sisters Aline Beauvais and Denise Marlay,

along with nieces and nephews who still reside in Quebec.

A faithful and loyal man who treasured his late wife, Elsie (Hansen) Varin and had the Bible’s hope of seeing her again. Pierre and Elsie married later in life in Quebec City, 1965 and together they served in full-time service to tell others of a better future for all. Once they moved to Vernon BC, they eventually had their home built on 24th Avenue. Many recall the bridge he made over the stream so they could both sit, tend the garden, play guitar and sing while enjoying the birds. It was their glimpse of paradise.

Pierre worked as a glacier at Consumers Glass in Lavington BC and once retired you could find him on Vernon’s street corner with timely magazines (Watchtower and Awake) on many subjects based on the bible.

Some of Pierre’s favourite songs was “Keep your eyes on the Prize”

( 2 Corinthians 4:18) and “Just around the Corner” which can be found on the official website of JW.ORG.

A&W was a constant in his life and he loved his coffee, coke, fries and he even used the onion rings as pretend earrings for a picture. Always the jokester and was rarely seen without his cap, hat or beret.

Thank you to all his neighbours who looked out for Pierre and to the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses here in Vernon.

A memorial talk will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetary Graveside on Saturday, July 12th at 3 pm.
