In Loving Memory
Phyllis Valentine Duggan

Phyllis Valentine Duggan:
14 Feb.1932 – 10 Dec. 2025
Our strong serene and beloved mother, Phyllis Valentine Duggan, passed away peacefully the evening of the 10th of December 2025 with her family by her side.
Phyllis had a full vibrant life raising and loving her immediate and extended family, enjoying her farming life, and truly enjoying the natural world around her.
Raised in the Ellison District of Kelowna, Phyllis attended Ellison School, Rutland High School and following her graduation, Herbert’s Business College. Her first working years saw her working for Kelowna Social Services, CP Express and the Okanagan Regional planning board.
Having a desire to dairy farm, she and her husband Bryan Duggan purchased a farm in Armstrong in 1967 and later a larger farm in Lumby in 1976.
Phyllis loved sports in school and had a love for dance; ballet and highland dance which she was trained in.
Along with the daily activities of life on the farm and farm accounting, Phyllis enjoyed her family and grandchildren and all the joys & challenges of family life. She had a wide variety of other interests which included acrylic painting, knitting, embroidery, playing pool, playing piano, baking, horseback riding, playing cards, reading about Canadian adventurers and fishing and hunting in the earlier days. Phyllis had a quiet and unshakable Christian faith throughout her life and in younger years was an active member of the United Church.
She is honored and missed by her children and their spouses – Patrick Duggan (Vicki) and Jane Van de Velde (Wilf), her grandchildren Rylan (Ashley), Evan (Jennifer), Jacalyn, Jenna, Jarrod, and great grandchildren Carter, Jackson, and Zella, and her loving nieces and nephews, and friends.
The family thanks the staff and volunteers at the Monashee Mews Age Care of Lumby for such great care making these past years happy and joyful for her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026.
