In Loving Memory
Michelle McGregor (nee Lalonde)
It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michelle McGregor (nee Lalonde). Michelle passed away peacefully on Thursday May 9, 2024, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, surrounded by friends and family. Michelle was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, niece, friend, and fierce advocate to all of those in need who crossed her path. She loved us all and fought hard against this terrible illness right till the end. Born in Ontario, Michelle came to BC by way of Terrace and then Prince George, where she spent her time being a fierce advocate for her community. Michelle worked to support all those in need and to correct injustice whenever and wherever she found it. Michelle was a caregiver, teacher, and member of the Poverty Law Society as an advocate and then grew into an amazing Executive Director for the Prince George Council of Seniors. She spent her final months in Armstrong being loved and cared for by her wife (Lindsay McGregor) and family and advocating for those like herself with ALS. Michelle loved her work and the people who she worked for; she was always striving to make life better for those around her. Michelle loved the outdoors and found peace by a campfire, on the lake, under stary skies and many other outdoor activities. Crafting, knitting, sewing, and many other creative outlets, were just some of the ways in which Michelle expressed her love for those around her. Michelle found happiness when she was with her children (Keven, Grace-Ella and Jordan) and her grandchildren (Saint, Brevyn, Diamond and Armani). She loved them all dearly and was so proud of all they have done and would do with their lives. No words can accurately express how deeply we will all miss her light and her love. This world is less without her presence in it. She was an amazing woman, who deserved the best that life had to offer. Her laughter was infectious, her love was all consuming and her loss has been felt deeply by many. We love you Bug and we will see you on the other side.
We would like to thank all of those who were involved with her care during this journey. There will be a celebration of life ceremony held in Armstrong BC at the end of September, we will post more information when we have a location and time for the ceremony. Michelle requested that in lieu of flowers or cards that people please make donations to the ALS Society of BC (please see link below).
