May Sela Devos

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. May Sela Devos (nee Sryver) passed peacefully at home on April 22, 2023, at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. May stayed with Arie until their 69th Wedding Anniversary. May was born November 13, 1934 in Krabbendyke, NLD. In 1953, Arie meet May at the Dutch reform church in Chilliwack, BC. They were married one year later on April 22, 1954. May lead a Christian life. She was the woman behind the ministry. She typed all of Arie’s sermons. May supported Arie in his ministry for over 50 yrs. May always made sure that Arie was dressed “appropriately”. She always had his shirts & pants neatly pressed. Quilting was her passion & it blessed so many people. She also sewed many clothes in her lifetime. May is survived by her beloved husband Arie, her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Garry Devos (Brenda Devos), Lee & Vicky Devos, Liam, & Austin. Steven & Ashley Devos, Piper & Felix. Sarah & Ryan (Brenda’s children) Ellie Burgess (John Rutherford), Darren & Justyna Burgess, Vincent. Devon Burgess. Emily & Andrew Zus. Leonard Devos, Lindsey Devos (Cole Norman), Olivia, Kessler. Gavin & Dana Devos, Charlie, Scottie. You were not just a Mother to us. You were our life, our soul, our heart, and most of all, the reason for our existence. Now you have left for a little while. It’s hard not to grieve and shed wild tears. Think about all the special moments we shared. Hoping you can remember and feel all our care. And for our sake, live on and do all things like you did. Caring, helping for others. At times it doesn’t seem possible to take a next breath, but today we have to survive your death. Our days will be hard and weakened by sorrow. But remembering your love will inspire us to face our tomorrows.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Armstrong Bible Chapel (2145 Rosedale Avenue, Armstrong, BC).
