In Loving Memory

Mary Lynne Hennessy

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Mary Lynne Hennessy. She passed away on the evening of December 27th, 2023, surrounded by family, after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in May 2023.

She is survived by her children Barrie, Shelley (Peter), and Marcel, her grandchildren Bradley, Calie, Abby, and Skylar, her sisters Colleen, Judy, Darlene, and Agnes, and her many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Peggy (d. 1960) and Dick (d. 1989) and her siblings Shirley (d. 1973), Frank (d. 2016), and Hazel (d. 2022).

Mary and her sisters grew up in Clute, Ontario. Throughout her life, she worked in jobs that would always help those in need, be it family, friends, or complete strangers. Mary was beloved by all for her infinite kindness. The love she created for those around her, at the end of her life, was nothing short of incredible. Mary carried herself with the highest honour a person could, and her passing has left a hole in the hearts of many.

We thank the Hospice House and the Palliative Care team in Vernon, British Columbia for their incredible support.

A celebration of life will take place January 27th, 2024 at 2:00pm at St Paul’s United Church, 204 6th Avenue, Cochrane Ontario. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 151 6th Ave, Cochrane Ontario. All are welcome.

Interment will take place in the spring, at the Clute cemetery.

“Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler, or better. Life will always be complicated, learn to be happy right now, otherwise, you’ll run out of time.”

I had reconnected with Mary – in B.C. when I flew out Sept 2022 – My Dad Bill was her Mom Peggy’s brother. I have lots of childhood memories while visiting Clute when we were children. I am so happy I got to be with Mary and her sisters after so long. It was as if no time had passed. Mary was full of fun – life and humour. It was the best of times we had. Every word anyone says to describe Mary is so true. I am sure she never met a stranger. She had an impact on everyone. The loss is enormous and I send my love and condolences to her Children and grandchildren and her sisters Colleen Judy and Darlene. You are all in my thoughts . Mary will never ever be forgotten.
