Marilyn Jean Cole
June 15, 1944 - November 26, 2024
In Loving Memory
Marilyn Jean Cole
Born on June 15, 1944 in Calgary, Alberta. Passed away on November 26, 2024 in Enderby, British Columbia.
As promised, Dad came to get Mom when it was time. She died peacefully at home with us there.
Survived by her brother Dick and his daughters Catherine and Jody, her “little sister” Aunt Vi, her children Sharon (Scott), Dan (Tracey), Melody (Ignacio), Christopher and Peter, her grandchildren Jesse (Lindsey), Ben (Shayla), Max (Diana), Kiersten, Anna (Liam), Zoey, Elise, Molly and Heidi, great-grandsons Henry and Miles, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and their children.
Predeceased by our Dad, George Thomas Cole, and her parents Ted and Emma Lathwell.
Mom had a long life of many interests and experiences, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was so proud of each of them and loved them all so much. After Dad died in 2020, she had the courage to keep gardening, keep walking, keep up with family and friends, and make new friends as well. The women she got to know in her neighbourhood were an important part of her life in these last few years and their companionship was valued.
Special thanks to her friend of 40 years, Lorraine Powell, who has always been there for us during the good stuff and the hard stuff and everything in between.
Since we couldn’t do anything for Dad when he died, we’re having a service for both of them on Dec. 14 at St. Andrew’s Church in Enderby, 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to come and share tears, laughter and stories as we celebrate them.
And yes Mom, we will get the Christmas shortbread cookies done.

Condolences from the Thomson household in Calgary..
My mother and Marilyn were cousins.
We would spend a lot of time up at the farm in Sundre. Always enjoyed our visits, and realizing what extreme work was involved. Really not liking the milk that much .. LOL
Spent a great time also at the last farm, with Marilyn introducing my daughter to “horseback” and how Alicia still enjoys horses to this day. Took my mom and three of my kids out there that time by car.
My wife Heather and I got to see Marilyn one last time this past spring , when we visited
Such a nice place to live, and she was energetic and smiling the whole time !
Thanks for the memories.. and the smiles
To the family of Marilyn Cole
I only just met Marilyn at meeting along with my husband of 64 years. During our group sessions I learned she originally came from Calgary and we got to talking about where in Calgary we lived and where we went to school. It was during the topic of schools that we learned that we attended Balmoral School together during one of my grades there. I was moved from school to school as we were the bus children from ThorncliffeHeights while they built our much needed schools both elementary and the junior high school. We shared some laughs and she showed me her school book she had from that period in time and shared stories of both students and teachers.
I had hoped to attend the service at St. Andrew’s but since I am my husbands palliative care person it hasn’t been that easy to get away without him and because this service would have been hard for him to sit through I chose not to attend but to say prayers for Marilyn’s soul at home. Please accept our condolences.
