Mabel Irene Bertrand

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Mabel Irene Bertrand at the age of 92.

Mom grew up in Forestburg Alberta and came to B.C. at the age of 17. She worked in a small cafe in Penticton where she met and fell in love with Rolly. They married in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and settled in Crawford Bay to start their family before relocating to Prince George in 1966. In 1986 they moved to Enderby to enjoy their retirement years.

Mom always had a talent for keeping an immaculate and beautiful home and kept her gardens flourishing. She was well known for her amazing gardening abilities which she enjoyed into her last few months showing her exceptional strength and perseverance. She was very passionate about life, family and cherished our family reunions and gatherings. Mom rose to the challenge with anything she took on, including her favorite activities: curling, bowling, and playing cards, often winning trophies, pins or achieving the highest score. She was an avid Blue Jays fan. Her enjoyment of cards was endless. Her latest bridge group (who she referred to as her Angels) was like a gift to her.

Mom is survived by her children Barbara (Pat) of Pemberton, Bernadette of Vernon, Caroline of Kamloops, Leonard of Enderby, Jacqueline of Prince George, and Charlene (Gary) of Kelowna, her dear sister Shirley of Rimbey Alberta and numerous precious grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her late husband of forty years Roland Bertrand, her grandson Kristopher Kivi and her partner of 16 years Jack McCabe.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 13 at 1pm at the Enderby Senior Centre in Enderby.
