Laura May (Barroby) Bowles

Laura May (Barroby) Bowles passed away on March 1^st, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loved ones, her paintings, and the house she designed and renovated herself.

Born in May 31^st ,1941in Maple Creek Saskatchewan and raised in Ravenscrag on the family ranch, Laura May was the second oldest of twelve children. Her parents were Francis Ryott Barroby and Eva Elizabeth (Rife) Barroby.

Laura May married in 1960 on July 1st to LeVern Bowles and they moved to Armstrong BC where they had their four children, in which all four were born in their home and delivered by LeVern.

Laura May Bowles was an artist, writer, and she canvanced the largest area in the Armstrong area, for heart and cancer for 51 years. Laura May helped to start up the Armstrong Pallett club and became the secretary, the treasurer, the vice president and finally the president.

Laura May Bowles was survived by her husband LeVern Bowles, her four children Allan, Conrad, Sherri, and Fraser, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Laura May Barroby’s siblings were Ryott (Sonny), Sylvia, Frank, Harold, Violet, Ralph, Marion, Larry, Shirley, Susanne and Sharon.

Laura May Bowles was well loved by all. She will be greatly missed for her highly creative nature, her love of all things, her affection for small children and animals, her eclectic taste in music, the massive undertaking she took to create a magnificent and masterpiece of a home.

A service to celebrate Laura May Bowle’s life will be held at her home:
2pm on Saturday, May 31st 
Hullcar & Deep Creek Community Hall, 4194 Hullcar Road, Armstrong BC

A second service will be held:
2pm – 6pm on Sunday, August 31st
Kin Coulee Kinette Picnic Shelter, Medicine Hat AB
