Laina Watson

It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the passing of Laina Watson. Laina was the daughter to Arthur and Hilda Aho of Finland. Laina was born in Golden, BC on February 19, 1927 and passed away March 9, 2023 in Vernon, BC. She was 96 years young. Laina grew up in Arrowhead, BC and then Revelstoke, BC with her twin brother Elmer and five other siblings. Laina is predeceased by her brothers Elmer Aho, Karl Aho, Allen Aho and Dennis Aho and her sister Bertha Evans. Laina met the love of her life, Fred Watson in Revelstoke and they married June, 1947. Fred worked for the CPR in Revelstoke then transferred to Kamloops were he retired and later passed away in 2001. Laina is survived by her sister Irene Giesen, her two daughters Beverley Keith (Brian) and Lynette Woolsey (Mark) and her grandchildren twins Michael (Roberta) and Chad Woolsey, Allison Keith, Janine Keith and David Keith (Emma) and her great grandchildren Ben, Max and Isabelle Keith.

Laina enjoyed life to the fullest and was always up for a good time. She often mentioned that there were never enough hours in the day. Laina loved her card games of Canasta and crib or any other game that was presented. Laina was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Thanks to the staff at Canterbury Court who provided enough games and activities to keep Laina entertained for 11 years and a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at VJH for taking such great care of mom in her final days.
