Kelly Rhea Barron

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kelly Rhea Barron (née Jansen) announce her unexpected passing on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at the age of 57.

Kelly was born in North Vancouver in 1968 to Lorne and Kathleen Jansen. While working at Yics, a Chinese food restaurant, she met the love of her life, Darcy Barron, they married in 1990.

Kelly and Darcy welcomed a daughter, Carly, in 1992, followed by a son, Levi in 1995. Kelly was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also a dedicated school bus driver for Foothills School Division in Alberta for 20 years. After retiring from bus driving she endeavoured to begin her training as an Early Childhood Educator, largely inspired by her adoration for her two grandsons. 

Kelly was a woman of many passions including horseback riding, muscle cars, 80’s music, travel, tattoos and piercings (so many tattoos and piercings!), and horror flicks. She also loved to cook lavish, gourmet meals for her family; if she cooked for you, you knew she loved you. 

She will be forever missed by her best friend and life partner, Darcy; children, Carly (Conor), Levi (Bailey); grandchildren Bowen and Miles; parents, Lorne and Kathleen; sisters, Christine, Cheryl and Lori. As well as numerous extended family. 

A Celebration for Kelly’s Life will be announced at a later date for close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either the Calgary Urban Project Society or the SPCA.
