In Loving Memory

Joyce Shea

It is with sadness that the family of Joyce Shea (nee Just) announce her passing on Sept 21 with her daughter by her side.

Lovingly remembered by daughter Nicole (Graham), brother Ken (Margaret), nieces & nephews and many beloved friends.

Born in London, England, Joyce recently celebrated 70 years living in Canada. Having arrived for a holiday in her 20s with her best friend, she never left, undeterred by the lack of good tea! She eventually settled in North Vancouver before moving to the Okanagan in 2021.

Despite her many years in Canada, Joyce was English to her core and was tremendously proud of her heritage. Family was always very important to Joyce and she made a great effort to keep in touch and to visit home whenever possible. She always used to say, ‘don’t wait until it might be too late to travel. Do it now.’ As such she had numerous great adventures before she left England and then with her daughter, partner Jim, and many friends travelling the world later in life.

Joyce made countless friends and mentored many people new to the field during her long & respected career in advertising & media buying. She would take every opportunity to share an amusing business story and would champion any new endeavour of those she cared about in her business or private life.

Sharing the Just’s love for fun, Joyce could never let a chance for a practical joke pass her by. Though dementia changed her in her last years, her cheeky sense of humour remained. Showing immense strength throughout her life and until the very end, Joyce survived WWII London, several health issues and a questionable ex-husband during her lifetime.

We ask that you celebrate her memory by living as she did with curiosity, interest and enthusiasm for whatever captivates you.

Memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s name to Parkinson Society of BC or Alzheimers Society of Canada.
