In Loving Memory
Joseph (Barry) Camille Buholzer

Joseph (Barry) Camille Buholzer passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Vernon at the age of 84. Barry was born in Berwyn Alberta on January 14, 1941, to August and Mary Buholzer. He was the second oldest of 12 children. He started his life as a heavy equipment operator at the age of 14, embarking on a life-long journey in the construction industry. He met Eunice Reid, in Alberta and they were married on November 23, 1963. Together, they had three children Barry, Carla, and Marlo. They moved to Kamloops in 1969 where Barry started his own company, Buholzer Construction Ltd. He was a hardworking man all of his life, working into his late 70’s. He was a generous person and when we were growing up, he always ensured that we had what we needed whether it was a bike, a car or the pool to hang out in on hot summer days. Barry was the type of man who wouldn’t think twice to give you the shirt off his back to help you out. When he wasn’t hard at work, Barry could be found at one of his favourite neighborhood watering holes usually the Brock Pub or the Westsyder. He liked to play Keno and visit with old friends. He had a great sense of humour even laughing at his own jokes and he loved to tease and get a rise out of people. He was a great papa to his grandchildren, who got to know him well while he lived with both his son Barry in Kamloops and daughter Carla in Vernon. He was pre-deceased by his youngest son Marlo in 1993 and his wife Eunice in 2007, both of his parents, his three brothers (Ben, Charles and Bud) and one sister (Alannah). He leaves to cherish his memory, his oldest son Barry and daughter-in-law Heather, and his daughter Carla. Barry’s son’s Colton (Melissa), Marlo, Adam (Zoe), and Ty (Sol). Carla’s children, Camille, Janelle, Carl, and Troy, and 4 great grandchildren. His 6 brothers Wayne (Lisa), Jack (Sandy), Leo, Dave, Lucky (Carol), John (Liz) and 1 sister, Bonnie (Steve). Special thanks to all the wonderful nurses and staff at Polson Extended Care Home in Vernon BC for their compassionate care in our father’s final days. There will be no formal service as per our father’s wishes. We will miss you, dad and papa, and we love you. May you rest in peace.

Rest in Peace, Grandpa
Dear Grandpa,
It’s hard to believe you’re gone. I miss you deeply already. You were more than just my grandfather—you were a source of wisdom, strength, and love in my life. The stories you told, the lessons you taught, and the way you carried yourself will stay with me forever.
I’ll always remember the times we shared, the laughter, and even the quiet moments that meant so much. You showed me what it means to work hard, to care for family, and to live with kindness.
Though it hurts to say goodbye, I take comfort in knowing you’re at peace now. I will carry you in my heart and honor you by living in a way that would make you proud.
Rest easy, Grandpa. You’ll never be forgotten.
That’s a great write up about Barry’s life and all those accomplishments . I consider myself fortunate to have been included in a handful of projects over the years. A lot to look back on. And thanks to the family for being so gracious to everyone. Thanks Barry and Carla- my sincere condolences to you and yours. May we all say a prayer and give thanks for your Dad. RIP brother Barry.
One memory of Brother Barry was one cold December night in 83 I was driving from Chetwynd to Osoyoos to spent the Christmas with my parents. We left Chetwynd in a borrowed 1974 Ford, a large car, as we had myself, my two children Agees 8 and 10, plus three other adults who were needing a ride to the Okanagan to be with their families. We left Chetwynd around six pm and at Clinton the heater motor quit blowing hot air. This happened after midnight with nowhere to go to get repairs.
We continued driving on this cold winters night while scraping the windshield to get a view of the room and wrapping everyone in extra clothes or blankets to keep warm.
On arrival in Kamloops at my brother and Eunice’s home at around 2 a.m. we were welcomed inside where we were given places to sleep.
On waking up and a warm breakfast by Eunice, I found that Brother Barry had gone and found a heater motor for this old Ford, installed it and we were back on the road to Osoyoos. His kindness and generosity and helpfulness was always something you could depend on when you stopped to visit our Barry Joe. HIs home was a welcoming and happy place to visit no matter the time or situation.
So sorry to hear about Sr. God bless you Barry and Carla, and all your family. He was such a good man, and always treated me like I was one of his. And he would always smile after you got his nod. XOXO to all of you.
Carla and family
