Joan Grahame

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Joan Grahame (nee Hunt), she now rests peacefully in serenity. Joan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by her loving daughters, Patti Lippert (David and Sandy Frank (Ken); her cherished grandchildren, Grahame (Shannon), Laura (Mick), Stephanie (Robbie) and Jonathan; her adored great grandchildren, Sam, Drew, Alexandria, Everett and Maeve. She also leaves behind her niece, Joan (Graydon), and her great niece and nephew, Neil and Heather (Matt). Joan was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Walter (Walt) and her sister Patsy MacDonald (Gordon).

Joan was born in Vernon and a lifelong resident. Her parents, Stan and Lydie Hunt, were entrepreneurs who started various businesses in the North Okanagan, including Valley Auction and Hunt’s Antiques.

Joan was a Telephone Pioneer and dedicated employee of Okanagan Telephone, BC Telephone and Telus.

Joan and Walt enjoyed dancing together will into their 80’s. Their love of nature and fun was expressed by sledding on Hunter’s Range, fishing on local lakes and the Pacific Ocean, square dancing and water skiing. They also spent 13 warm winters as snowbirds in Mesa Arizona, where they hiked, explored and met new friends. Joan was a passionate about: flower gardening, feeding the birds and her many cherished dogs and cats. She enjoyed having afternoon tea with her sister and bowling at Lincoln Lanes. As an avid crocheter, Joan crafted many beautiful items which are treasure keepsakes. Some of her happiest times were spent camping in the Okanagan with her grandchildren, making many fun memories. Earlier in Joan’s life she was a figure skater, a competitive curler and an excellent sketch artist.

Joan’s love, kindness and spirit will be missed and fondly remembered.

Please join us for Joan’s celebration of life on Saturday, March 22, 2025 to gather and reminisce Joan’s life, at the 1516 Pub Grill, 7673 Okanagan Landing Road, Vernon from 1-4:30 pm. Coffee, tea and a light snack will be provided.
