In Loving Memory
Janet Evelyn Code
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Janet Evelyn Code, who went to the Lord’s care peacefully at home with her faithful dog Alaska and family at her side on January 4th, 2025, at the age of 76. ~ Lovingly dedicated to her Mother Mable Evelyn Code (Cragg) & Father James Harvey Code, Janet was born August 10, 1948, in New Westminster BC. Residing in Surrey, BC for a number of years before moving to the Shuswap Lake area in Celista, Janet spent the majority of her youth loving the farm, horse Penny & dog Sandie. In the years that followed the family moved again, this time to Kamloops, where Janet would spend the remainder of her life in the community. Janet’s life was not an easy road and anyone who knew her admired her determination and faith in living each day to the fullest. Despite many health issues over the decades, Janet had a genuine zest for life. Her travels to Reno with her Mom and Aunt Millie Dalin, to Alaska with Tim & Holly Judd and many wonderful “Driving Miss Daisy” road trips to Radium Hot Springs with cousins Betty Peter’s and Jacquie Hilbrecht. When at last the physical nature of Janet’s disability kept her from travelling, Janet was not to be undone! In 2017 life presented a new adventure for Janet ~ the introduction of family & friend Jean Warren who would teach Janet the miracles & accomplishments of watercolours. Janet worked tirelessly to achieve a perfect outcome. Sometimes due to being weary, Janets ambitions were higher than the end result, but never ever without heart. The learning curve for a person of disabilities was a constant surprise to both teacher and student.
Although unconventional as instruction goes, sometimes the greatest achievements were a collaboration that rendered an outcome referred to as a “happy accident”. Jean would reassure Janet that these were a learning curve and perfectly acceptable as a student goes.
We will all remember different moments shared with Janet, but her kindness, sweet nature and ability to make each of us feel special was a constant. Janet leaves behind a brother & was predeceased by her parents. A private graveside service & inurnment will take place February 3rd, 2025 at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life for Janet will be held May 23rd, 2025, at the home where she was so happy.

Janet was a bright light in all of our lives. Whatever she tackled she would go all in. A wonderful baker, a crocheter extraordinaire and her sketching and watercolours have graced the offices and homes of those of us who were lucky enough to be the beneficiaries of her talents.
Janet had a wonderful sense of humour. She had a poker face and just when you thought you had her in a game she would pull the ace out of her sleeve.
I have many warm memories of my sweet cousin that I will treasure throughout my remaining years.
She was a force to be reckoned with.
Sweet dreams dear girl.
I love you always.

Sending my condolences on Janets passing, very sad to hear. She was a bright light that brought smiles to everyone she met.
So sad to hear of Janet’s passing. I have been out of touch with her and her Mother since they stopped coming to meetings of the Antiques Club. They never missed a meeting and enjoyed sharing their items and the stories that went with them. I remember Janet was very proud of her collection of small porcelain animals that came in a box of tea (forget the brand).
RIP Janet
