In Loving Memory

James Kenneth Lewis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Kenneth Lewis on September 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 15th, 1946, in Bralorne, B.C., Jim lived a life marked by passion, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to his loved ones.

Jim was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm. He found joy in water skiing, snow skiing, bowling, curling, and golf—activities that reflected his zest for living.  Jim was an avid reader who started his career as a heavy-duty mechanic, with Finning Tractor, where he was highly regarded for his work ethic and expertise. During a break from Finning, he successfully ran his own businesses in Vernon, B.C. Jim later returned to finish his career with Finning as a Tool Room attendant at Ekati.

An active member of the Elks Club, Jim was deeply involved in his community. After years of moving throughout the North, he and his beloved wife, Nancy, made Vernon their permanent home in 1981.

Jim’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by Nancy, his devoted wife of 51 years; his daughters, Carolynn (Tracey) Russell, Pamela (Steve) Darby, and daughter-in-law Lavern; and his cherished grandchildren, Jamie (Kali), Ayla, Jena, Jade, Cadrin, David, Carrena, William, Tru, Bree, Owen, and Evan. He is also survived by his sister, Margo (Don) Nelson, brother-in-law Rick, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Tish Lewis; his son, Dennis; his grandson, Curtis; and his sister, Jennifer Sansom.

Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. His ashes will be spread at a later date at Adams Lake, B.C., a place dear to his families heart.

Jim will be remembered as a dedicated father and husband, whose positivity, kindness, and selflessness touched the lives of all who knew him. In the words of many, he truly was a “great man”.

Love the pictures you have posted of Jim, awesome.
I am a 35 year Finning acquaintance of Jim and we met up at Ekati, unfortunately did I not know him before Ekati.
I was always hopeful to get over to Vernon to meet him off work but never happened. Sad to hear of his passing as he was always a pleasure to be around, his constant smile always a reminder of how we should all be. 👍👍👍👍
My most sincere condolences as Jim was indeed one of a kind and it was my privilege to have known him, and worked with him as well.

    RIP JIM
