In Loving Memory
Irene Myrtle Liddell nee Anderson
Irene was born on March 3, 1928 on the farm just outside of Simmie, Saskatchewan in the Illerbrun District to Camilla and George Anderson. She was the tenth of eleven children, as her dad had been married previously and had three children prior to becoming a widower at a young age. When she turned eighteen she decided she wanted to leave the farm and follow her sister Agnes to the big city of Vancouver, BC. She worked a few jobs that she really enjoyed and met her best friend Betty Stevenson whom she had as a roommate and travelmate for many years living in the Kitsilano area until she met her future husband, a widower with two children, Gilbert Liddell. They were married in July of 1966 and owned a seven suite apartment building in the Metrotown area. Her daughter Tracy was born the following year, so they sold the apartment building and moved to a new subdivision in Port Coquitiam, BC. She decided to be a stay-at-home-mom for five years then she got a job working for the City of Port Coquitlam where she remained until she retired in 1993. In 2003 she and her husband decided to follow their daughter and family to the Vernon area of the Okanagan where they lived in Desert Cove until the death of her husband in 2011. She then sold her house and moved into the newly opened Heaton Place in Armstrong, BC to be closer to her daughter and family. There she met a dear friend Hazel that moved in on exactly the same day as she did. Early in September of 2024, she became very weak and was taken into the Vernon Jubilee Hospital and after a month’s stay she was called home at 2:30am on September 27, 2024. She is predeceased by her parents George and Camilla Anderson, her husband Gilbert Liddell and nine out of her eleven siblings. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Edwards (Darin), her step-daughter Debra Moore (Harold), her step-son Dale Liddell, her grandchildren Emily and Shelby Edwards, Elise Maher (Michael), Christopher Moore (Kira), her sister Mabel Stokoe, her four great grandchildren Aubrynn and Gray Maher and Braelyn and Jordyn Moore as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice in her name would be greatly appreciated. There will be no funeral as per her request but a Celebration of Life is TBA next year.

Condolences to the family. Grandma Irene will be deeply missed. I cherished our visits in her room during my 4 1/2 years at Heaton, admiring her fashionable style and enjoying our conversations. She was an exceptionally kind and loving person who always made my day brighter.
I delivered prescriptions to this sweet lady for many years, she was always pleasant and a joy to see. God bless her and love to Tracy and all her family Ned
