In Loving Memory
Irene Anna Coates (Tremblay)
Irene Anna Coates (Tremblay) passed away on June 4, 2023 at the age of 74 after losing her fight with cancer. Irene is survived by two sons, Mark (Kara) and Blair (Gwen) and daughter Sheri (Dwayne) Schweb. Grandchildren Crystal (Mackenzie), Jennifer, Christopher, Tija, Samantha, Carson, Trevor, Cole (Emily), Melissa and Tasha. Two brothers, Gilbert (Chris), Barry (Michelle), sister Angela, brother-in-law George (Myrna) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob and her parents Charles and Florence Tremblay.
Irene was born in Gravelbourg, Sask. and moved to Morse with her family at a very young age. She met Bob there while working in her father’s Esso station. They married in 1964 and farmed in the area until 1980 when they moved to Vernon after purchasing Vernon Funeral Home. They remained in the profession until Bob’s death in 2004 after which Irene retired. Irene had a passion for art and was an accomplished artist. She favoured landscapes on canvas with oil paints as her medium. She belonged to the Vernon Arts Centre and various painting groups over the years. Irene was an avid golfer, curler and recently took to playing pickle ball. Up until she was diagnosed 4 months ago, she was still going to the gym 3 days a week, weightlifting with her group at Snap Fitness and her favourite trainer, Don. She loved to cook, garden, and spend time with her family. Irene was a favourite among so many people whose lives she touched. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 24th at Trinity United Church with Reverend Robin Jacobson officiating. A private family interment at Coldstream Cemetery will follow. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Irene to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 27th Ave, Vernon, BC, V1T 1S4.

I would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family for the too early passing of my cousin. I have fond memories of her from the time that we bugged a New Years party when we were 14 to my last visit in 2016. I will miss visiting her on my Vernon visits.
Very sad to learn that Irene had passed away. Irene was my ex-sister in law and a wonderful person, great mother and dedicated spouse to Bob. I have wonderful memories visiting Irene and the family when they were in Saskatchewan and then Vernon where she always made me feel very welcomed. I want to offer my sincere condolences to Mark, Blair and Sheri and the grandkids. To Gilbert, Barry and Angela – I’m sorry for your loss.
Love to you all,
Ted
