Gloria Sharon “Sherry” Gilroy (nee Bouchard)

March 4, 1945 - March 29, 2024

In Loving Memory

Gloria Sharon “Sherry” Gilroy (nee Bouchard)

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gloria Sharon “Sherry” Gilroy (nee Bouchard), in Kelowna BC on March 29, 2024.

She is survived by her husband Ron Gilroy, daughter Shannon Gilroy (Cliff), son Charles Gilroy, granddaughters Gemma Cote (Alon), Cherise Cote (Taha), grandson William Wilcox, brother Larry Bouchard (Rita), nephews Blake Bouchard (Tamara), Kelly Bouchard (Selin) and many cousins.

Sherry lived her life in service.  She was a teacher by trade and that came out in all aspects of her life.  From first aid on the slopes in Prince George, to years as a leader in Guiding and Scouting, service in her community including with Emergency Support Services, food bank and neighbor link, and in her last decade plus, her dedication to and love for Rotary.  No matter how big or small, she had something to give or share.  This is how we will remember her, as someone who put others first, from family, to friends then strangers, her life revolved around helping others.

Her shoes will never be filled but we will stand beside them and remember the amazingly beautiful soul she was and strive to carry on her legacy.

This is not goodbye, just until we meet again.  We love you!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00am at First Community at First United Church (450 Okanagan Avenue E, Salmon Arm).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation in her name.

Sending hugs to the family. Sherry will be missed at ESS and in the community. I would have loved to attend the celebration of life but am going to my only nephew’s graduation that day in Kelowna. I will be with you in spirit. Treasure your memories.
