Gilbert was born in Donnelly, Alberta on June 7, 1935 to Ovila and Adrienne Turcotte. He was predeceased by his parents, his older sister Gertrude and one granddaughter Karlina.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Donna (Muik) Turcotte of 33 years. He is also survived by Donna’s children Mimi Zerkee, Richard Muik, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special daughter-in-law, Ramona.

He is also survived by his younger brother Gerald, his 2 children, plus several other nieces and nephews.

In 1965 Gil and Ruth moved to Monte Lake, BC where he was able to enjoy fishing and hunting. He was also a member of the Fish and Game Club.

Gilbert was better known to his friends and family as “Gil”. He was always a very kind, caring and gentle person and had many friends. He spent his younger years in Port Coquitlam and was an avid baseball fan and player from the age of 8 years old. He was a pitcher for the Senior League and their team won the Fraser Valley Championship in 1952. His love of baseball never left him.

Gil enjoyed playing Snooker (a pool game) for most of his life and won a bronze medal at a tournament in 2004 while living in Saskatchewan.

He spent most of his working years in the forest industry doing everything from splitting shakes to falling large trees for the lumber mill. Prior to his retirement he worked at the Armstrong Plywood Plant.

Gil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the near future.
