Gail Diann Townsend

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful grandmother. 

Left to mourn her passing are her son-in-law Roy Spooner, granddaughter Shawna (Michael) Addison, great grandchildren Seairra (Gustavo), Mitchel (Nevada), Emma and Breanna and great-great grandchildren Elexsiya and Aurora.  

Gramma was predeceased by her parents Fred and Rachel Bucke (nee: Anderson), her children Patricia Spooner and Michael Pitz, as well as her grandson Trever Spooner. 

Gramma was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario. Growing up, Gramma had an especially close relationship with her mother and the two spent many years attending to the needs of the elderly within the community and the church. She relocated to Kenora, Ontario when the children were young and spent many years there enjoying summers on the lake with family and friends, golfing with the ladies and attending and hosting functions for the church, for her various groups and for my grandfather’s business. Gramma was a Lioness and an Eastern Star member and remained committed to her church and community.

Family was always paramount for Gramma. In her retirement years she returned to Chatham to care for her father and then in her ailing years, headed out to BC to be closer to her granddaughter Shawna. 

Gramma’s commitment to service and family is something that she exemplified her entire life. She was the strongest person we’ve ever known; she defined love and grace and was truly the most beautiful soul. It was a blessing and an honor to call her our own.. We will miss her so very much. 

At Grammas request, she has been cremated and there will be no service.
