In Loving Memory

Frederick (Fred) Thomas Fretwell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick (Fred) Thomas Fretwell, a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, who peacefully left this world at the Gateby Care Centre. Fred was born in Vancouver on April 15, 1938.

Throughout his life, Fred dedicated himself to his faith and community. He spent his career as a General Labourer in various positions such as the Vancouver Children’s Hospital, CP Rail, and a custodian in the Nelson School Board, where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impact on both students and colleagues. Fred’s unwavering dedication to his work was a testament to his strong work ethic and desire to create a clean and welcoming environment for all.

During his time at the Gateby Care Centre, Fred was surrounded by compassionate and caring staff who provided him with exceptional care. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Gateby for their unwavering support and the kindness they showed Fred during his stay. They would also like to thank Vern & Beverly Fretwell, Reg Bernard, and all the other friends who would stop by to visit Fred.

Fred was passionate about the weather, solar system, exercise, and cooking.

Fred’s quirkiness will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 36 years, Lorita Fretwell, his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and extended family, and friends.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Vern and Birtha Fretwell, brothers Vernon and Jimmy, and sister Virginia.

A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at a later date at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Vernon, British Columbia.
