In Loving Memory
Florence Marie Anne Boring

Florence Marie Anne Boring, (Howkins/Chouinard)
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Florence Boring January 17 2025, a vibrant and resilient woman who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. It’s with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, whose spirited presence will be deeply missed.
Born on June 4, 1932, in La Corey, Alberta, Florence grew up as part of a large and loving family of eight siblings and she grew up learning the value of resilience and resourcefulness. Although growing up during this time presented its challenges, together they shared their interest for music, through singing and playing instruments and the occasional dance. Florence and her family found joy in the simple pleasures of life. These experiences shaped her love of music, which remained a lifelong passion. Florence’s love for the great outdoors was unwavering, whether she was basking in the warm summer sun, picking berries, or simply taking in the beauty of nature. She always found ways to stay active and engaged, whether through her hobbies or the many responsibilities that came with being part of a large family.
Florence always found time to cherish the little things. Though she may not have always stopped to rest, her spirit remained lively and full of life. She was not shy about hard work. While some might characterize her as old-fashioned, it was a badge of honor, a reflection of her genuine character and honest nature, and a testament to her unwavering commitment to her values. No matter what life threw her way, Florence responded with resilience and kindness. As a mother to three precious children, Lynn, Randy and Todd, each as distinctive as she was. Her love, guidance, and support gifted those around her with the strength to become the people they are.
Our dear Grandma B will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter that could light up any room. With a heart full of love, she poured out her blessings in the form of warm meals that often preceded her loving words and advice. Her homemade pies, slippers and warm hugs were love-filled memories in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to receive.
Florence was predeceased by her mother, Christine (Werner); and father, Pete Chouinard; her siblings, Arthur Chouinard and Grace Paul , her first husband, Eugene Howkins “Gene”, her second husband, Edgar Boring “Ed” ,daughter, Lynn Sagenschneider , son in-law Mike Sagenschneider ,son Todd Howkins and grandchild-in-law Shauna Gach.
At the time of her passing, Florence is survived by her siblings, Alice Whitecotton (Smoke), Margaret Foisy , June Viret , Margie Lukat (Emil), and Ethel Sauer (Harry). Her son, Randy Howkins (Annette), daughter-in-law Kathy Howkins , her grandchildren Terence and Ryan Howkins , Dean Howkins, Shane (Leanne) Gach and Troy Gach, Ryan Vincent (Sheena); Chance Howkins, her great-grandchildren Brydon, Alyssa, and Daiten Howkins, Aurora and Marek Howkins, Alexis and Dailen Vincent, Chase Howkins, Alannah Daniels (Jeff), Courtney Howkins, Shalee Cartwright (Shaun) and John Gach (Nicole), Aiden and Christina Gach (Christopher), Michael (Hailey) and Sean Herman and 8 great -great grandchildren.
Rest in peace to a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and so much more than words can express. Her unbreakable courage, strength, and kindness will leave a lasting mark that will guide us along the path of life that she graciously paved for us. May the horses in heaven treat her better than they did here on Earth.
May her new wings carry her to a place of everlasting peace and joy, free from pain, where she will be reunited with all her loved ones and favourite people who have passed before her, like Memere and the love of her life, Ed.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospitals for the kindness, support, and care shown to Florence during any time of need. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff at Hospice House in Vernon, who cared for Florence during her final days.
