Esther Hoffman (Nee Schwab)

January 12, 1923 - October 17, 2024

In Loving Memory

Esther Hoffman (Nee Schwab)

It is with heavy hearts the family of Esther Hoffman (nee Schwab) announces her passing at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, after a brief illness, on October 17, 2024 at the age of 101.

Esther is survived by her children Lyle (Bonnie), Douglas (Patricia), Eileen (Denis) and Deborah (Brad) and her 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  She leaves 2 siblings (Alice Pomrenke and Gordon Schwab) and numerous nieces and nephews to mourn her. She was predeceased by her husband George and son Barry.

Esther was born on January 12, 1923 to Conrad and Amelia Schwab on their family farm in Overstone, Manitoba. She was raised there with her 12 siblings. She met and married George Hoffman in 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They moved to BC in 1952 and raised their family in the Okanagan, living briefly at the O’Keefe ranch, then for many years on their property located below Eagle Rock at the end of Hoffman Rd in Armstrong, BC. She worked tirelessly in the home to provide for their family.

In 2018 Esther and George moved to Heaton Place in Armstrong, BC. Esther loved playing games while there, especially bingo, crib and canasta. She lived there independently until a few weeks before her death. The family wishes to extend a big thank you to the staff and residents at Heaton Place for the love and care shown to mom. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Respecting Esther’s wishes, there will not be a formal service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Sending my condolences to the Hoffman family. I knew Esther, in my younger years. I would visit at their farm in Armstrong with my older sister , Bernice and my brother-in-law Leonard Hoffman.
Esther was always very kind to me and also her husband George.
    Sincerely, Karen St,John
