In Loving Memory

Erin J. McKay- Schwieger

Erin loved life. She loved her family. Her friends.

She tried to live without compromise. She rarely mentioned her cancer. She almost never used it as an excuse. She was heartbroken knowing that she would have to let go of all she loved way too early.

Her desire to help people manifested in her work as a kinesiologist. She was proud of her career and was extremely frustrated when she was no longer able to continue to do the work she loved.

She also loved her horses. If asked about her happy place, she would tell you it was on the back of a horse. The last thing she did in the afternoon before being admitted to the hospital was to ride Shimmer.

Living and being at her home on the farm just outside of Armstrong surrounded by Isla, Stefan, horses, cows, dogs, gardens, flowers and friends made her life complete.

The cancer and the side effects of treatment affected every aspect of Erin’s life. She exhibited remarkable courage in dealing with it for the last 14 years.

We are missing her. In all aspects of our lives.

A celebration of Erin’s life will be held on May 10. 2025 at Gardom Lake
