In Loving Memory
Emily Sophie Gobbett

It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Sophie Gobbett of Vernon, BC
announces her passing. Emily passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on
September 22, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Emily was born and raised on the family farm near Prud’homme, Saskatchewan. As a
young woman, she met the love of her life, Tony, a dashing young RCAF pilot. They
married and moved to Saskatoon to start their new life together, with Emily taking a job
in customer service at the Hudson Bay Company. Emily and Tony had three children,
all born in Saskatoon. The family moved to Victoria, B.C. in 1966, where Emily and Tony
owned and operated a small grocery store for three years before moving on to other
endeavours. Emily took a job at Woolco Department Store, again in Customer Service
where she worked her way up to a supervisor role, first in Victoria and later in
Coquitlam, B.C. when she and Tony moved to the lower mainland. Upon retiring, Emily
and Tony moved to Vernon, B.C., where they continued their love of gardening and
fishing. Winters were spent enjoying their second home in Mesa, Arizona. Emily will be
lovingly remembered by her daughter Caroline (Dave) Veitch; sons Cary (Corinne) and
Carl (Jacqueline); six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brothers Don (Mary)
and Terry (Lorna); sister-in-law Yvette and numerous other family members. Emily is
predeceased by her husband Tony, parents William and Sophie, brother David and
sister Shirley (Gary). The family wishes to thank Dr. Schuch and the caring doctors and
staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
