In Loving Memory
Elaine Frances Nelson (nee Gallardi)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Frances Nelson (née Gallardi), who passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, six months after her diagnosis of lung cancer.
Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jada (Jason) Young and Clayton (Shannon) Nelson; her cherished grandchildren, Jack and Ben Young, Nova Nelson, and Sierra and Brayden Fernley; and her beloved sonny boy, Steve Mitchell.
She will also be deeply missed by Jean Paul Duranleau, whose companionship meant so much to her.
Elaine is survived by her four siblings, Gregory Gallardi, Margaret McKercher, Lundy‑Lee Gallardi, and Nancy Laframboise.
Born in North Bay, Ontario, in 1954, Elaine moved west to British Columbia in the mid‑1970s, where she later made her home in Vernon and began raising her family alongside Terry Nelson.
Elaine was an exceptionally kind and generous soul who loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. Family and friends were the center of her world. She found joy on the golf course, treasured time watching football, and brought warmth, laughter, and compassion wherever she went.
Her life was a gift, her love a blessing, and her memory a treasure that will live on in our hearts forever.

Through our childhood, teenage and adult years together, we shared dreams, adventure, family, heritage, and friendship ,but it is mostly the laughter and love that will live on in my memories of my dear friend Elaine. She shone in the light of simple pleasures and joy. I will forever find you in my heart. Sympathy, light and strength to your family.
So sad to hear this. Elaine was such an amazing lady. One of my favorites i have ever dealt with in the Lumber business. True class. So sorry about this. My condolences to her family.
What I’ll miss most about Elaine is her infectious laugh and incredible sense of the humour. Deepest condolences to her children, Jean Paul, and her siblings who, like Elaine, were so much a part of my life growing up in North Bay.
