Edwin William Blundell

 Feb.1937-Oct.2025

Edwin (Ed) Blundell passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2025 at the Hospice House in Vernon, BC. He was deeply loved and will be missed by Sonja, his wife of 64yrs, his kids Greg (Cheryl), Valerie, Neil and Sara Blundell and his beloved grand-kids Jordan (” Papa’s Peanut”), Sage and Seth. He is also survived by his sister Joan (Carol, Jane & Ken) and his brother Ron.

Born in Winnipeg Manitoba Ed left home at 16yrs of age to work for The Hudson Bay Co. at the trading post in Churchill Man. Two years later he joined the Navy and traveled the Pacific Ocean from Alaska to Australia. While on shore leave in Victoria, he met and fell in love with Sonja Jordan. They were married in 1961 after his discharge from the Navy. Ed then drove truck (Canada Dry & Chevron) until 1967 when he began his career in the Insurance industry. Moving the family to Vernon in 1974, Ed enjoyed family camping trips, motorcycle rides with Sonja, and traveling. Their 50th anniversary trip to Hawaii was his favourite trip.

Ed achieved his CLU, CFP, and CH.F.C. designations, and worked as a Financial Planner until his retirement in 2003. Ed valued all of his clients and the community he lived and worked in. He was well respected in the industry for his honesty and integrity, receiving the Peter W Newton Achievement award in 2003. Ed also spent many years as a Rotarian and was a founding member of the Kal Rotary club serving as president from 1984-85. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award, and designation of honorary life member in the Tri Lakes Rotary club.

After retirement Ed volunteered at Hospice house and Gleaners. He also took up golf and played avidly. He enjoyed his monthly poker games, looked forward to coffee with the guys at A&W, and games night with friends.

It’s fine to look back…. just don’t stare.

As per Eds request, there will be no service.
