In Loving Memory

Edwin (Ed) Martin Breiter

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announced the passing of Edwin (Ed) Martin Breiter on April 20th 2025 at the age of 93.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Shirley with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage since June 28th, 1958. Their journey together began when Ed was working as a truck driver and in the oil fields – where he met the love of his life.

He will be deeply missed by his children Kevin (Tracy), Terry, Tracy (Wayne), his 5 grandchildren and his six cherished great-grandchildren.

Ed’s work ethic was unmatched. After time in the oil fields, he became a heavy-duty mechanic and welder in Edmonton, a trade that suited his natural talent for fixing anything. He and Shirley owned and operated the Eagle Rock Motel and Campground, where many memories were made. Retirement didn’t stick though – he got bored and opened Bubble & Squeak Laundromat before finally retiring again to enjoy life as a snowbird.

As a multi-talented tradesman, Ed always had a project on the go. He was endlessly curious and did it for the fun of it. If it was broken Ed could fix it. His hands built, mended and created so much over the years, but it was a steady presence and quiet strength that held his family together. He enjoyed quadding, rock hunting, gold panning and exploring.

Ed’s legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Per Ed’s wishes no service will be held.
