In Loving Memory
Edith Schwarz
It is with great sadness that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Edith Schwarz. She was called Home to be with her Lord on September 5, 2023 at the age of 81 years.
Edith was born on November 22, 1941 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of three children born to Hildagard and Adolf Robert. Edie will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Dieter Schwarz; daughter, Kim Schwarz; her sisters, Frieda Kraft and Arlene Kuehn.
Edie met the love of her life, Dieter in Calgary, AB. Edie took Dieter to meet her parents, and her father (Adolf) told her that he was a keeper and she should marry the starched white shirt German from Hamburg, Germany and they were married 6 months later. They were married in Winnipeg, MB in a double wedding with her sister Frieda on April 1, 1967. During their 56 years of marriage Dieter and Edie spent over 35 years in Calgary, AB and then retired in Canoe, BC and subsequently moved to Vernon, BC.
Edie’s great joy in life was her 35 year career as a teacher. She started teaching at the Hutterites in Winnipeg and continued her teaching career in Calgary. Her hobbies included her love of flowers (especially roses); crocheting; card making; reading and, of course, the love of the sun with their annual trip to Hawaii.
In respecting Edie’s wishes, she was cremated. A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Edie’s life will be held on Saturday September 23, 2023 at 11:00 am. This will take place at the Vernon Church of God (4312-25th Street) with Pastor Gary Glanz officiating.

Dear Dieter & Kim,
I am so sorry to hear about Edie’s passing. I know no words can make her loss less painful, I hope all your wonderful memories or her will help a little at this time.
I know she was a very caring fun loving person and had a laugh and giggle that was so contagious, I sit and think of all the fun we have had over the years, the laughs we had, all the parties we had, our golf weekends. What a good time! I will remember her with Love and Laughter!
Love to you both,

I am so sad to hear this news! She was such a fountain of happy and bubbled over with humor and joy. I always enjoyed seeing her – her smile was amazing. May the memories of her stay close to your heart and may the knowledge that she is home with Jesus and you will see her again help to ease the pain of having to say goodbye here.
